Maybe St Swithins was right   Leave a comment

‘St. Swithin’s day if thou dost rain
For forty days it will remain
St. Swithin’s day if thou be fair
For forty days ’twill rain nae mair.’

Tradition has it that whatever the weather is like on July 15, it will remain like that for forty days and nights.  It’s been amazingly warm and sunny over here, just as it was on July 15.  If you’re interested in the background of St Swithins, you can read about him here.  Poor ol’ bloke.

So much for the weather.  I have been catching up with relatives and writing an article for the Box News, which I finished yesterday.  They asked me to write my perspective as a visitor to Box for their quarterly newsletter which comes out next in September 2013.  I’ve placed a copy of it at the end of my Box Village post, if you are interested.

Shenfield has some beautiful homes and gardens so I love my walk to the train station and shops this week.  ImageImage
